, Introduction
● The Axis Powers are also known as the Axis alliance, Axis
nations, Axis countries, or just Axis. It was the alignment of nations
that fought in the Second World War against Allied forces.
● The Axis grew out of the Anti-Comintern Pact, an anti- communist
treaty signed by Germany & Japan.
● At the beginning of WWII, the Axis powers ruled much of Europe,
Southeast asia, and Africa.
● Benito Mussolini signed an alliance with Germany in 1936.
● Japan signed an alliance with Germany & Italy in 1940.
● The aggressive countries soon became known as the Axis Powers.
● Hitler = Germany, Mussolini = Italy, and Hirohito = Japan = Rulers
