Module 1 - Virginia
Erosion Program
Overview questions
and answers 2024
How many more times is the soil loss rate at
construction site compared to natural erosion
rates? What about the erosion rate at agricultural
lands? - answer 1000 times more. 20 times more.
Why is there a requirement that construction
projects use ESC Minimum Standards (MS)? -
answer The removal of vegetation at construction
sites leaves the area more susceptible to erosion.
The erosion and resulting sediment transport can
lead to water pollution. Therefore, measures must
be taken to keep sediment in place by capturing it
before stormwater carries it off site.
What plans are involved with a SWPPP
(Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan)? - answer
It consists of an erosion and sediment control plan,
a stormwater management plan, and a pollution
