Occurs as an attempt to wall off pancreatic secretions. pancreatic abcess ~ large fluid containing cavity within the pancreas, large fluid filled sac in the pancreas from extensive necrosis of the pancreas Chronic pancreatitis ~ Characterized by progressive destruction of the exocrine pancreas, fibrosis & destruction of the endocrine pancreas
