U4 R&R: Chiyo to Mr. Yamaguchi
Write a letter in Japanese to Mr. Yamaguchi, who is running the exchange program, thanking
him for the information and explaining why you want to live in the suburb you have chosen.
Dear Mr. Yamaguchi,
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity for this student exchange
program to Nagasaki! I’ve read the information you gave me ( くれる) and I think Nagayo
would be good.
It is quite far from the city centre and probably more than 12km to school, but that’s okay
because there’s , and because I’m used to waking up early anyways. There’s also no cinemas
there but I’ll be happy as long as there’s wifi.
The main reason I prefer Nagayo over Tamazono and Matsubara is because there’s “a
lot of green.” Matsubara also has lots of nature but it doesn’t have as many public facilities as
Nagayo. I want to take a break from Tokyo’s bustling nature and relax. I really like hearing the
birds chirping in the morning and feeling the nice chilly breeze… these sorts of things.
Mr. Yamaguchi, what fun activities do you recommend in Nagayo? I think I can land
small jobs like teaching the neighbourhood kids English or helping neighbours with their
gardening, and make some friends. Otherwise I can work part-time at the convenience store
since it’s convenient and close.
Also, when is the exchange program starting? Do we know what type of people the host
family are?

The Sasaki’s house is in Kamakura and is not 佐々木さんの家族は鎌倉にあって、海から遠くないです。
far from the beach.
In Kamakura there is a very wide street and on 鎌倉には、とても広い道路があっ両側桜の木ります。
both sides of the street there are cherry trees.
I have heard that it is beautiful in the spring. 春は美しいそうです。
In Kamakura there are many old temples and 鎌倉にはたくさん古いお寺と神社があります。

There are probably many festivals too. たくさんお祭りもあるでしょう。
There are many shops and restaurants and the 店とレストランがたくさんあって、佐々木の家族は私をにテーキ食べつれ行まし。
Sasakis took me to a restaurant to eat steak.

この町は、ホストペアレンツが生まれる時から住んでいす。
20 年前、この町に新しい団地が建ってから急たくさん人来昔三千口一万なりま。小学校だけはあど今中もす
昔、ゆうびんきょくや小さい魚屋八百などはあったけ寿司スーパりませでし。銀行とか歯医者にれば隣の町バを乗ら少が着三十分ぐ待つ中学生ち便利校五だそす
そして、15 年後で、この小さくて静かな町は駅を建っら学校や会社に速安い電車乗れとも混むようりました。今日隣三分ぐす道だ狭けどが多そ
昔は今よりのんびしていまたね。
