Social computing is an important aspect of many businesses. This technology solution
will help in being able to integrate online shopping, facilitate collaboration internally and
externally (with staff and customers), manage customer contacts, and provide reporting.
However, this technology will not help with managing inventory and shipping, providing order
status checking and online payment processing, or to manage the current brick-and-mortar
processes (sales, payments, inventory, and customer contact).
While mobile phones technically have a broader reach than any communications
device, social media has already surpassed that workhorse of the modern enterprise, e-mail.
