In this report I will write about the different ways in which you can fund the different which help us. When we
need them. Some people may want to get advice as they are in a legal argument with someone. This could things
such as divorce or any other issues. Also if they have been a victim of crime. People may want formal legal
advice as they wouldn’t want advice from someone that they know closely as they may have certain views.
Solicitors will only look at the legal aspect of the issue.
Private Funding –
People will need to pay legal fees, for the legal advice which they get from qualified people such as solicitors
and barristers. They will also need the legal advice for the court as if they attend the court hearing themselves
they are seen as being at a disadvantaged position if the opposition have legal assistance. People can get advice
or they can get for the lawyers to represent them in court. There are several of different solicitors and barristers
which specialise in criminal or civil matters as well as being a specialist in both types of matters. A solicitor can
request for a barrister to represent them in court, this could be because the solicitor may not have the knowledge
to manage a case as it may be transferred to higher courts. Also barristers tend to have the higher knowledge to
make them do the advocacy work. A solicitors firm which is also a conveyer is bird and co. this a firm which is
in my local area. Solicitors can be expensive in some areas, in a local high street they would cost £150+ an hour
and in the city of London firms cost £600+. The fixed fee to get a divorce is £550, they can also end civil
partnerships. Different lawyers will have different rates in which they will charge for offering help and
information for the divorce. Some solicitors undergo pro bono work, which is when they work for free so that
they can get good reputation so that more people choose to go to them when they need a lawyer.
Conditional Fee Agreements-
Some people cannot afford to pay for solicitors fee’s on their own, so they have the option to bring the claim
under a conditional fee agreement which is also known as a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. This is a legally binding
agreement so it must be in writing that they have accepted this. This can be used in many areas of civil law but
cannot be used for family disputes. They also cannot be used for criminal law matters and they mostly used for
personal injury claims. If a client wins a case the solicitor will agree to accept a little fee and will receive no fee
at all if they lose the case. The losing party in a civil case may sometimes be told to pay the winning teams legal
fees, so even if someone has a conditional fee agreement they will still need to pay the fees of the winning party
in the civil case. Sometimes the clients will get insurance so that they are protected by this possibility. The
solicitor can raise the amount of money by percentage if they win the case. They can raise it to the maximum of
the double the original fee. So instead of charging the normal rate they will charge an extra rate which is known
as the success fee. The final fee will be calculated by deciding how likely the client is likely to win the case and
how certain they will not be able to win the case. The fee will be a lot more if they are not likely to win. In
personal injury cases there is a ‘cap’ on the success fee which means that solicitors cannot take more than 25%
of the compensation which will be given by the client. There are two types of legal insurance which are before
the event (BTE) and after the event (ATE). Before the event is used commonly in home insurance and they pay
for your legal costs if you are involved in a civil case. After the event is insurance which will be taken out when
you are involved in a civil case. The insurers will pay for the legal fees of the other sides costs. The premiums
for after the event insurance are expensive. There are a lot of these types of firms which take part in this but
there are also many which don’t take part in such events. An example of a firm which offers this type of service
is spencer’s solicitors and there are not many which do work like this as it is a risky method.

The government has made up schemes in order to provide assistance for them so they are able to pay for the
legal costs. These are for people who have low earnings. In April 2013 the ministry of justice will control legal
