What is radiation? - The transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves Types of radiation? - ionizing and nonionizing What is non-ionizing radiation? - Low energy, longer wave lengths that do not have the capacity to ionize. Examples are ultraviolet, visible light, infrared, microwave What is ionizing radiation? - It is any electromagnetic or particulate radiation capable of producing ions either directly or indirectly as a result of interaction with matter. What are x-rays? - Electromagnetic radiation w/ extremely short wavelengths.
