Explain how resources are managed and how good management of human, physical and
technological resources can improve the performance of VHS.
This section of assignment assesses how managing the human, physical and technological resources
that have been researched so far can improve the performance of Villiers High school.
Human Resources
There are two main processes which are looked at when managing human resources. The most
important is to employ the correct people for the job, people that will carry out the job correctly.
The correct resources have to be provided for them so that they can carry this process out to the
best of their standards.
Human resources are the employees in the business that are monitoring the performance of other
employees in Villiers High School and there are many advantages of being monitored.
Managers and other employees’ part of the Senior Leadership Team in Villiers monitor teachers in
order to make sure that they carry out the job tasks correctly. When employees know they are being
monitored, they perform to the best of their ability in order to impress the manager. In order to
improve performance, these observers provide employees (teachers) information on how to
improve in order to help the students more, or notify the areas on which they are weak at teaching
and how they should change in order to improve.
Co-ordination of teams in Villiers is very important in ensuring that they meet the targets they are
set at the end of a fixed term. When all employees of the team complete their given role, the
team/school will run more effectively as the students are receiving the best possible education. It is
important for a manager to supervise his staff in order to remove any bad teaching techniques.
Physical Resources
Physical resources are the tangible goods businesses use to complete its activities every day in
school.
Most businesses need a premises to operate, especially government owned businesses such as
schools; Villiers High School. These buildings can have a strong effect on the people that are either
studying or working there, therefore it is important for students and staff to look after buildings and
facilities and not vandalise them. Buildings and facilities help the performance of the business for
example e.g. more facilities such as large fields will show more productivity in PE Lessons as each
student would have more space.
Villiers produce lots of wastage from resources consumed by students and staff, if Villiers students
had produced less paper waste by using all paper sheets efficiently, Villiers would save on costs as
less sheets would be consumed, therefore less will need to be re-ordered. Good management of
resources can improves VHS in the long terms as they will be spending less money on new resources
in the short term. In result they can spend this extra capital in other areas to improve the school.
Good management of physical resources such as equipment including ICT can the improve the
resources of Villiers High School as teachers can record attendance as well as other important pieces
of data on databases. This equipment can influence Villiers performance, for e.g. if Villiers’s online
website/email is having technical difficulties, this can cause problems for students and staff
