The following assessment is an essay-planning activity: you have already chosen an essay topic in
Assessment 1, now you will write the essay introduction, provide your section headings, and use at least two
footnotes/references. You are also expected to attach a Plagiarism Declaration (see below). Your introduction
should be between 100 and 150 words. This activity is in preparation for Assessment 5, which will be the full
essay; it is designed to further assist you with the direction of your essay and to use referencing in practice.
Remember that in the Department of History, we use footnotes and a bibliography when referencing (see
Assessment 1). Please note that this assessment makes up 20% of your final mark for this module. This
assessment is a file submission, meaning you will upload your answers as a PDF or MS Word Document
(preferably PDF).
For this assessment, you will:
1) Read Lesson 2 below, on essay introductions and body/sections.
2) Write the introduction for your upcoming essay (you do not have to use the example template below) .
3) Reference your introduction with at least two footnotes.
4) Provide three to four section headings for your essay (only the headings).
5) Complete a bibliography for the sources used.
6) Attach a signed plagiarism declaration (see below).
