Unit 4 Assignment - Assessment Paper
Describe and evaluate the differences between evidence-based practice and research.
The evidence-based practice focuses on research discoveries, data regarding
quality improvement, and various types of evaluation data. Also, this research includes
the need to recognize techniques of improvement by experts. In evidence-based practice,
the focus is not necessarily about the recognition of new knowledge development; it is
not about nor is it about the validation of current knowledge but rather leads to translated
and applied clinically to decision-making (Brown, 2018). Utilizing the most appropriate
evidence available to make decisions related to healthcare is the purpose of evidence-
based practice. The majority of the greatest evidence is a result of research (Brown,
2018). Evidence-based practice is more than just research. It contains the expertise of
clinicians and the preference and principles of patients. Evidence base process has several
stages. The stages includes: pose a solid clinical query, create an inquiry, evaluate the
evidence critically, gather as much of the finest evidence related to the topic, combine
evidence with clinical proficiency, patient preferences, and principles, assess the practice
decision, and change, and disseminate evidence-practice results (Brown, 2018).
Exactly finding the differences to distinguish evidence-based practice from
research can be perplexing for staff members (Kohn, et al., 2005). Research is done to
create innovative material or authenticate existing material theoretically based. Research
studies include methodical, scientific examination to answer detailed study inquiries or
check hypotheses using well-organized, thorough procedures (Wickizer1, et al., 2012). As
it is true that research embodies analysis, investigation, and detection; it also requires an
understanding of science philosophy (Wickizer1, et al., 2012). For a research study to be
