But what if you have a smaller, simpler purchase, like some computer equipment for a conference room? That shouldn’t take the same amount time and resources as procuring a weapons system, should it? Welcome to CON 2370, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). I’m Ranger Alex, and I’ll take you on a trek to Hidden Lake Overlook at the top of Simplified Peak. Along the way, you’ll be introduced to the policies and procedures for executing an acquisition using SAP. This course, and your journey, consists of three modules and an exam. It will take approximately five hours to complete. Before we get started, take a look at the course interface elements. The simplified procedures in FAR part 13 allow for a streamlined approach to the acquisition of supplies and services, including construction, Research and Development (R&D), and commercial items, when the aggregate amount of the acquisition doesn’t exceed certain thresholds. The purpose of SAP is to: • Reduce administrative costs • Improve opportunities for small business and small business socioeconomic concerns • Promote efficiency and economy in contracting • Avoid unnecessary burdens for agencies and contractors.
