NURS 190 Physical Assessment Study Guide 5 NURS 190 Physical Assessment Study Guide 5 PA SG 5 Hepatitis A: through feces, oral routes Hepatitis B: Sexually Hepatitis C: most common, through blood Oliguria: small amount of urine output UTI: frequency, dysuria, back and pubic pain, hematuria, cloudy foul smell urine old pt: s/e is confusion Psoas Sign: supine, place left hand above the right knee floating, ask patient to raise leg to your hand, flexion of the hip causes contraction of the psoas muscle — Pain indicates irritation of this muscle [peritoneal inflammation OR appendicitis] Murphys Sign: While palpating live ask pt to take deep breath, The diaphragm descends and pushes the liver/gallbladder towards your hand — Sharp abdominal pain is positive sign [cholecystitis ] Constipation [old pt] — cause: decreased GI motility, impaired physical mobility, opioids, NSAIDS, CA supplements, anticholinergics, cognitive disorders, scared of urinationg or pooping, decreased fruits and fibers — Meds: 50% loss of nephrons, glomerular filtering decreased, increased suseptibity for drug toxicity in older adults
