operate within their markets. I will also have to discuss and explain the impact of globalisation. I will

of this will be put in a report format, my chosen businesses are Rolls Royce & Apple which are both
PLC companies.
Explain why two businesses operate in international markets – P1
Rolls Royce operate in the UK. The UK has a lot of money in the economy meaning they can
manufacture and innovate new products. Rolls Royce operate in this market as their target audience
can be found in the UK and their spending power is suitable for their products. The better the
spending power the higher the chance that their target audience will buy their products. This shows
that this market Rolls Royce are in is very suitable as their customers can be found here and they have
the right spending power to purchase the products. Compared to a country with a weaker spending
power for example Rolls Royce will not operate in a country like Mozambique as their spending
power is significantly less compared to the UK. Therefore, Rolls Royce choose to operate in a market
in the UK as the spending power is much more suitable for their products. Rolls Royce went public
and started trading internationally in 1987, this was when they went to countries like China and built
establishments such as power plants. Rolls Royce operate in 50+ countries for example the UK & Us.
Rolls Royce sell civil aerospace products, they operate in the defence sector, they make power
systems, and they manufacture cars.
One of Rolls Royce’s primary activities are manufacturing engines. This means that Rolls Royce will
put a lot of focus onto making new and improved engines for their cars. This shows that their focus on
engines have allowed Rolls Royce to become very successful and provide people with their luxury
products. Without their focus on manufacturing engines, they may have not been as successful as their
engines is a key component to their success. Therefore, one of Rolls Royce’s primary activity is
manufacturing engines which has a played a big part to their success. A secondary activity Rolls
Royce do are electrical systems. This means that they innovate and design new electrical systems for
people and other businesses. This is a good thing as it will bring in more money for the business and
expand their product line. This shows that one of Rolls Royce secondary activities are designing
electrical systems. Therefore, one of Rolls Royce secondary activities are designing electrical
systems.
