Cell division
Bio Notes
,Mitosis
, What is mitosis
Mitosis is a type of nuclear division. Where the nucleus divides producing 2
daughter nuclei genetically identical to the parent with the same number of
chromosomes.
It occurs over 4 phases.
After the cytoplasm divides (Cytokinesis) 2 daughter cells are formed. They
have the same number and combination of chromosomes as the parent cell.
Cell division involving mitosis is responsible for the growth and repair within
an organism. It is also how a zygote develops in the womb.
