PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN Project A project is a temporary endeavor undertaking to create a unique product, service or result. Project Management Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. Closing Skills Needed To Manage a Project Following skills are needed to manage the project of construction of hostel building block: a. Identify outcomes and deliverables b. Devise a sequence to achieve the goals c. Recognize when the outcomes will be achieved d. Identify the key issues 4 | P a g e (INITIATION PHASE) The Initiation Process consists of those processes performed to define a new project or a new phase of an existing project by obtaining agreement to start the project or phase. Within the initiating processes, the initial scope is defined and initial financial resources are committed. Internal and external stakeholders who will interact and influence the overall outcome of the project are identified. Or in simple word we can say that in this first phase of the project the project charter and the stakeholders are identified. INTRODUCTION Purpose of Project Management Plan i. It has been active in construction business for about a decade. The main aim of this company is to fulfill the needs of customers and satisfy them by providing the best possible outcome. We provide our customer what they require at a reasonable price. Recently our company signed a contract of construction of a hostel for students in Johar Town with University of Central Punjab. The university floats a contract about the new hostel construction with specific requirements. For this purpose our company is chosen considering our reliable image in the market at a reasonable cost. The duration decided for this project is two years with a building consisting of 100 rooms and two floors. And the budget allocation for this project is thirty million rupees 30,000,000. All this description is written in the contract and both of the parties signed this agreement. Project Team Project team is established in order to complete the project successfully. It includes: 1. As the number of students is increasing each year and currently university does not provide any living facility for students, there is a demand of the hostel blocks, particularly because University of Central Punjab provides a concession for Punjab College students, which is almost in every developed city of Pakistan, that is why most of the students are from different areas of Pakistan. Contract was signed between AARTH constructions and University of Central Punjab and proposal for the project was submitted. AARTH Constructs has a well-organized team as well as necessary equipment for the construction of the hostel blocks. Project Overview Project: UCP Students Hostel Project Manager: Arslan Bukhari Contractor: AARTH Constructions Client: University of Central Punjab Starting Date: 23rd April, 2014 Ending Date: 24rd April, 2016 As already discussed, University of Central Punjab has allocated a budget of thirty million rupees 30,000,000 and this project is planned to be completed in two years. AARTH construction is expected to complete the construction project within the stated time period and allocated budget. Contract A contract is a legal agreement between two parties. Contract is made between AARTH Constructions and University of Central Punjab which started on 23rd April, 2014. Scope AARTH Constructions has selected a consulting architecture firm (Bloomfield Architects) to design the architectural and structural drawings and designs for the construction of the hostel block at project site in Johar Town. The consulting company will therefore design the drawings and make all the technical specifications in the process of the complete delivery of the hostel blocks. As well as consulting company will appoint an engineer to approve and check the status of the project at each point of completion. The total covered area of the project should be 35,000 Sq. ft. Therefore AARTH Constructs will complete the construction of the hostel building as per the requirements and specifications. 1. Objectives The objectives of this project include, providing flawless, safe, rigid and tolerant construction so that the end product is as per the requirements of the client. AARTH Constructions desires to complete the project within the approved budget and time and with the involvement of all the project team members and also to provide the final product as per the expectations of the client. 6 | P a g e 2. Roles and Responsibilities The overall management and control of the firm will be actively managed by its partners who will actively participate in management decisions and control the affairs of the firm. The partners will contribute equally in the equity of the project and will equally participate in the profit and loss of the firm's business. All the documentation that is project charter, scope statement, constraints, assumptions, work breakdown structure, project deliverables, cost estimates and the project budget, milestones, schedule, resource requirement, procurement plans, risk analysis and response plans project team structure and communication plan will be made by the mutual collaboration of all the partners. Project Manager The Project Manager, Mr. Arslan Hameed Bukhari, is hereby authorized to interface with management as required, involved with the planning, controlling and monitoring, managing and directing the assigned project resources to best meet project objectives, delegate responsibilities to ensure work is assigned and completed on time and within budget, to communicate with the contractors and management. He is also responsible for developing the project plan, monitoring the schedule, cost, and scope of the project during implementation, and maintaining control over the project by measuring performance and taking corrective
