The senses
Chapter 34
Receptor cells absorbs the energy that the stimuli produce and converts this into electrical
impulses that travel along the neurons
Skin complex sense organ. Largest organ in the body that is responsible for
protection and heat regulation (sweat/hairs/capillaries)
Taste taste receptors are located on the taste buds. Sweet, sour, salty, bitter
Nasal cavity controls the sense of smell with the olfactory neurons located inside
Eye responsible for sight
Functions of the parts of the
eye
Conjunctiva thin membrane protecting the sclera
Sclera white of the eye. It is very tough and opaque (lets no light in). It holds the eye
in shape
Cornea transparent part of the sclera at the front of the eye. It lets light into the eye
and bends it towards the retina
