Topic 2 DQ 1 Look again at the CDC's Web page about ADHD. In 150-200 words, please analyze the document’s purpose and audience. Who, for example, is the CDC's audience? What are the CDC's beliefs about ADHD, and how does the CDC's Web page relate itself to those beliefs? Why would the federal government post a Web page about ADHD? What role does the general public expect the government to play regarding disorders such as ADHD? During the week, go back and read some of your classmates' posts. Do you agree with their views? The audience the CDC webpage is written for is all of the people seeking information about ADHD. The CDC has a couple beliefs about ADHD. One belief is that ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that starts during childhood and last through adulthood. A second belief is that the symptoms to recognize this disease are a child who is overly active, lacks impulse control and has lack of paying attention. The relation to these beliefs is noted by providing detailed information about ADHD including symptoms, types, causes, diagnosis, treatment options, using credible research and sources, and debunking myths related to the causes of ADHD such as eating too much sugar or watching too much television. The Federal Government posts this web page about ADHD to develop global awareness about this disorder and promote healthy lifestyles. The role the general public is hoping the Federal Government will play is in providing scientific support through research and development of treatments and/or a cure.
