Summary Calculus Extreme values of functions local maximum and minimum
This document contains lecture Notes & practice examples that can be used for studying differentiation rules covering new concepts related to function behavior. The notes contain: Finding the Extreme values of a function (absolute minimum & absolute maximum points), finding the local min & local max points of a function as well as examples explaining how to find the values/coordinates (X,Y) of these local minimum or maximum points using the second-derivative test. it contains a mixture between simple rules that you may be previously familiar with As well as more advanced differentiation ways. it Also contains few examples on each concept. In order to maximize your benefit from these examples, please try to solve the simple examples on your own without looking at the answer first and make sure you understand each rule very well. The Notes are suitable for College students who are studying introduction to calculus and also can be suitable for high school students by helping them familiarize with the concepts of extreme/local values of functions Final Remark: this file will help you be familiar with the behaviors of functions, However, keep in mind that these concepts can also be applied on more advanced mathematical operations related to economics such as finding the profit maximizing point of output using the profit function.
