Once you complete the template, upload the document to the Week 2 Assignment section of the course. REQUIRED ELEMENTS RESPONSE Briefly define Parkinson’s disease. What physical changes occur related to the onset of the disease? What are the possible psychological changes with PD? What system(s) are affected? What is the prognosis? What are the treatments and therapies? Parkinson’s disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects the movement of the affected individual. Physical alternations such as tremors, stiffness, slowness and or walking problems, facial masking; which is the reduced ability to make facial expressions and poor balance to name a few (Eske, 2019). One of the first observable sign of this disease are tremors but this is not true for all individuals affected by this disease. Psychological changes with PD can cause major depression along with feelings of helplessness, guilt or a burden. With the disease affecting the autonomic nervous system the symptoms the emotions, behavior, thoughts and cognition of an individual has them feeling like they did not belong in their own body.
