Planning an Event
Introduction
In this report I will present a plan for an event, this being an online quiz. I will explain,
analyse and justify the factors surrounding this event, alongside feasibility and how looking
at previous event successes can help to tweak and form the fundamentals of our event.
Different Types of Event- P3
One type of event that is held is that of a business event, specifically a seminar. A seminar is
an event where the attendees, usually between 10 and 50 people, are given knowledge
about a specific topic. The purpose of this event for businesses is that they can use it to
circulate knowledge, techniques and different practises to their employees. Seminars are
usually run by business in venues with their employees as their most likely audience. These
venues are typically either hotel meeting spaces, conference rooms or academic institution
halls. One aspect that makes seminars successful is presentation, ensuring that the seminar
is visually engaging is important as it will ensure that the attendees are more interested and
therefore listening to the information being presented. This will help with the business as the
main aim of a business seminar is to successfully transfer the techniques, knowledge and
practises to the employees.
Another type of event that is held is that of a sporting event, specifically a sports tournament
such as the world cup. The world cup is a tournament that is held every 4 years and hosts
the world's best nations who then compete against each other. The purpose of the event is
to find out who is the best nation at football at that current point in time. The world cup is
such a huge event that it needs many aspects of preparation in order to run smoothly, these
can include aspects such as volunteers and workers, venues and large amounts of catering.
They run it by hosting multiple games in a group and then a knockout style system to find out
who the best team is, these will be hosted at the country's best national stadiums. One
aspect that makes this event successful is that of viewership and ticket sales, for example in
Rio 2016 there largest stadium sat 76,804 people, with every stadium fully sold out. This
would mean a substantial increase in sales and profit for the nation hosting.
Another type of event that is held is that of an entertainment event, specifically a music
festival. A music festival is an event in which a certain number of bands come to a venue in
order to perform live for a typically large audience, the event usually lasts several days.
The purpose of a music festival is to provide a well performed concert to an audience in
order to gain satisfaction from them, this being done typically using several well established
bands and some up and coming ones. Music festivals need a couple of important aspects in
order to run, these being a sizable piece of land, well-recognised bands and suitable
equipment in order to establish a good amount of sound. They will also need to hire a
multitude of employees in order for this to run successfully. One aspect that makes music
festivals successful is that of profit, most festivals typically make a sizable amount of profit
due to large attendance, typically due to the hype surrounding the bands that are going to be
there.
