Q.1) What are the different methods of contraception?
Ans:- There are four methods of contraception methods -
1) Barrier method - In this barrier method we use protective methods like for males use
condoms and for females use a diaphragm or cervical caps which stop the entry of
sperm in the female body during sexual intercourse.
2) Hormonal method - In this method, they contain hormonal preparation in the form of
'pills' which prevent the release of the ovum.
3) Chemical method - In this method vaginal pills contain the chemical called
spermicides which kill the sperm.
4) Surgical method - In this method, we cut males sperm ducts by surgical method and
the end tied properly to prevent the sperm from coming out. In females, we cut the
fallopian tube/oviduct by surgical method and tied it up to prevent the egg from
entering the oviduct.
Q.2) What could be the reasons for adopting contraceptive methods?
Ans:- The reasons for adopting contraceptive methods are:-
1. To avoid pregnancies, which in turn helps in population control
2. To prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
Q.3) If a woman is using a Copper-T l, will it help in protecting her from sexually transmitted
diseases?
Ans:- No, Copper-T does not prevent any transmission of STDs. Thus, it only prevents
implantation. The only safe method that can be used to prevent the transmission of STDs is
condoms.
Q.4) What is the role of seminal vesicles and the prostate gland?
Ans:- Secretion from seminal vesicles and the prostate gland is to provide nutrition to the
sperm which makes sperm easier in transportation and provides a fluid medium.
Q.5) What do you mean by pollination? Name and differentiate between the two modes of
pollination in flowering plants?
Ans:- pollination is the process where pollen grains transfer from Anther to the stigma of the
flower.
