What is your perception of the responsibilities of a paraprofessional who helps with the needs
of students? - Answer As a paraprofessional, my job would be to maintain order in the
classroom by following the classroom procedures, teacher instructions, and being attentive to
the needs of the students; as well as running errands and activities to help the teacher prepare.
You are doing playground duty and a student gets hit in the head and has a bloody nose. What
precautions should you take to maintain personal safety? - Answer First I would make sure the
child was okay and not in need of major help. Then I would quickly find another aide or
supervising adult to take over my supervising duties while I walked the child to the nurse, or
back to the classroom to take care of first aid there--depending on the severity of the situation.
A student in one of your classes exhibits inappropriate behavior being out of his desk, talking
and is in general consistently off task. How do you attempt to alleviate the problem ? - Answer
In my experience there are usually personal behavior plans for students with specific behaviors,
as well as a classroom set of rules to depend on, so I would first look to those to contain the
behavior. If it is a new behavior for the student, and the classroom procedures don't seem to
work, I would explain to the teacher the situation and ask for advice or assistance.
You are assisting a teacher in working with students both individually and in groups. What is
your role in developing curriculum content, learning strategies and modifying learning programs
to meet the needs of individuals and groups of children and youth. - Answer I think my role
would be to carry out the lesson plans and instructions of the teacher. I would monitor the
progress of each student, and guide them where they need to struggle. I should know each
student's limitations, in order to hold them to a high enough standard, or to give them enough
help.
You are assigned to work in a general education classroom. There are five special education or
Title I students in the class. What do you see as your role? How can you assist in the class? -
Answer My role in this situation would be to supervise and make sure my student is successful
in the general education classroom. I would do this by knowing my student's academic strengths
and limitations, and using this knowledge to communicate with the teacher, and make sure that
they get the most out of the class. In cases where my student doesn't need intensive help, I
would make myself available to help other students, as well as assist the teacher in any
preparation they need.
What is the purpose of using assessments and data collecting data when working with students.
What kinds of assessment and data collection tools are you familiar with and what is the role of
the
paraprofessional in these assessments? - Answer The purpose of collecting data is to establish
a student's strengths and weaknesses, as well as to monitor progress. These assessments often
monitor reading, math, and writing.
