1. Fabricating simple structural shapes using Gas Metal Arc Welding machine
Aim:
The objective of this project is to fabricate simple structural shapes using a Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
machine, developing skills in welding techniques, safety procedures, and quality control.
Tools Required:
1. GMAW Machine: A Gas Metal Arc Welding machine suitable for the project.
2. Welding Gun: A welding gun compatible with the GMAW machine.
3. Welding Wire: A suitable welding wire for the project (e.g., ER70S-6).
4. Shielding Gas: A suitable shielding gas for the project (e.g., Argon/CO2 mix).
5. Welding Helmet: A welding helmet with a shaded lens.
6. Welding Gloves: Insulated welding gloves for protection.
7. Safety Glasses: Safety glasses with a lens shade.
8. Steel Brush: A steel brush for cleaning welds.
9. Chipping Hammer: A chipping hammer for removing slag.
10. Measuring and Layout Tools: Calipers, rulers, and layout tools for measuring and marking materials.
Material Required:
Base Materials:
1. Mild Steel: A popular choice for structural shapes due to its strength, durability, and weldability.
2. Aluminum: A lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal suitable for structural applications.
