CompTIA A+ Certification
CompTIA A+ is the industry-standard, vendor-neutral certification for launching entry-level IT careers, trusted by employers worldwide to validate foundational skills in hardware, software, networking, troubleshooting, and security . The certification requires passing two exams—Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202) under the current V15 version, launched March 25, 2025—and exams cannot be mixed across versions . Each exam allows a maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, includes multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and performance-based items, and requires passing scores of 675 (Core 1) and 700 (Core 2) on a 900-point scale . CompTIA recommends 12 months of hands-on experience in an IT support role before attempting the exams . The V15 update emphasizes cybersecurity, cloud computing, AI basics, and skills needed to support a hybrid workforce . The certification is valid for three years and can be renewed through continuing education . It is approved for DoD 8140 work roles including technical support specialist and system administrator, and is accredited by ANSI and compliant with ISO 17024 standards .
