CompTIA A+
CompTIA A+ is the world's leading vendor-neutral certification for entry-level IT professionals, validating the foundational skills required to install, configure, troubleshoot, and secure hardware, operating systems, networks, mobile devices, and cloud environments. To earn the certification, candidates must pass two separate exams: Core 1 (220-1101) and Core 2 (220-1102). Core 1 covers mobile devices, networking, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing, and hardware and network troubleshooting. Core 2 covers operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. The exams are administered at Pearson VUE testing centers or online via proctored remote testing, and each includes multiple-choice questions and performance-based questions (PBQs). CompTIA recommends 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in a lab or help desk environment before attempting the exams. The certification is valid for three years and can be renewed through CompTIA's Continuing Education program by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CompTIA A+ qualifies holders for roles such as IT support specialist, help desk analyst, desktop support technician, and field service technician, and serves as a stepping stone to advanced certifications like Network+, Security+, and CySA+. It is widely regarded as the essential first step for anyone pursuing a career in information technology
