Introduction
Many hospitals are committed to providing the best care possible to all patients. There is
an ethos guiding Trinity Community Hospital's commitment. As we can see this ethos revolves
around delivering personalized care and support to every patient. As caregivers we have many
responsibilities. One of our responsibilities is to help all patients, guide patients and families, and
use educational resources regarding healthcare. There are many ways that we can better serve
our community. One way we can do this is, continually monitor, evaluate, and adjust our
practices. This is a way that we are able to meet the changing needs of our patients. We will
strive to achieve this goal. To do so, we will regularly conduct assessments and predictive
analyses. This action will help to identify and lessen potential risks affecting our patients within
our hospital system.
Risk Factors
A1. In review of the Trinity Community Hospital system, last year, a thorough
, 2
investigation was conducted. This investigation involved many different areas within the system.
These areas included cancer, orthopedic, and cardiovascular care within Trinity's main
department areas. The following analysis provides a detailed overview of the findings. Here we
will evaluate these areas documented in the need’s assessment report. The findings will be
categorized into the different departments under review. These departments include oncology,
orthopedics, and cardiovascular care. The findings will be detailing existing resources and the
demand, specifically the number of new cases.
When looking ahead and forecasting the future, the Oncology department foresees an
increase in new cancer diagnoses within the next five years. When analyzing the data collected,
there is expected to be an increase in annual cases. With a projection of cases to go from 3200 to
4282. This will demonstrate marking a greater than thirty percent rise in the number of cases.
Another projection is being made that fifteen percent of the population will be of the age 65 or
older within the next five-year forecast. There is research suggesting many concerns regarding
this percentage of older adults. This research is forecasting that 1/2 of men and 1/3 of women
will be diagnosed with cancer by then. As we know and have seen in the past decades, the
demand for oncology treatments is expected to increase accordingly with this population.
The next area under examination concerns Orthopedic services, which are expected to
experience significant growth over the next five years. Based on the data collected, there is a
projected 46% increase in annual cases, with numbers expected to rise from 11,800 to 17,338.
Furthermore, there is an anticipated 30% increase in inpatient spine and joint procedures.
Additionally, outpatient joint and spine procedures are forecasted to see a substantial rise of
350%.
Lastly, an inquiry was conducted into cardiovascular services in the region. This analysis
mirrors findings related to Orthopedic and Oncology services. The demand for cardiovascular
services is expected to increase significantly, particularly with a projected growth rate of 21.6%
