• It refers to acute neurologic impairment that
follows interruption in blood supply to a
specific area of the brain.
• Types
– Ischemic Stroke- occlusion of an artery to a region
of the brain
– Hemorrhagic stroke – occurs when the blood
vessel in the brain suddenly ruptures into the
surrounding tissue.
