MAGNETISM

WHAT IS A MAGNET?

A magnet is a material that creates an invisible
magnetic field, attracting or repelling metals like
iron, nickel, and cobalt. Magnets have two poles:
north and south poles attract, while like poles repel.

WHERE DO WE FIND
MAGNETS?
Magnets vary in size and strength, from small fridge
magnets to powerful electromagnets used in industries.
They are important in technologies like electric motors,
generators, and data storage devices, making them
valuable in both daily life and scientific advancements.

MAGNETISM
Magnetic domains are regions where atomic magnetic moments
align in the same direction, influencing a material’s magnetism. In
ferromagnetic materials like iron, cobalt, and nickel, these
domains align under an external magnetic field, enhancing
magnetism. This alignment, driven by electron interactions, allows
ferromagnetic materials to retain magnetism even after the
external field is removed, a property known as remanence.

MAGNETIC FIELD
A magnetic field is a region where a magnetic force is
experienced around a magnet, electric current, or changing
electric field. Its strength depends on distance weakening as you
move further from the source and the attraction or repulsion
between poles. Magnetic fields always flow from the north to the
south pole, represented by directional arrows.

GROWTH
The entire process of photosynthesis ultimately results in the
production of sugar, the primary food source of the plant. This by-
product allows the plant to grow in terms of physical structure,
including the expansion of its roots.
