Who are role players in the tourism industry of the town or region? Provide specific examples and expand on their role in the tourism industry (Hint: use component 3 of Leiper’s tourism system in your study material). This must be done by writing a short paragraph focusing on each of the themes individually. You may use graphical aids to strengthen your discussion of the chosen area, but it is not compulsory. The entire introduction of the chosen area should not exceed 1000 words. This part of Assignment 01 counts 50 marks (10 marks per theme discussed). b) Now move to a short tourism analysis of the chosen town or region based on the following themes and questions: • Critically discuss how the following five forces in the macro environment influence the tourism potential of your chosen town or region: 1) Geographical forces 2) Climatic forces 3) Socio-cultural forces 4) Economic forces 5) Technological forces The final component of this assignment must also not exceed 1000 words. 2.1 Introduction to Sabie

2.1.1 Location of Sabie

Sabie is located in Mpumalanga on the north eastern part of the Drakensberg
Escarpment and forms part of the wider Panorama Route tourism area. Its
approximate absolute location is 25°05.888 South and 30°46.739 East. In relative
terms, Sabie lies about 64 kilometres from Mbombela and is also positioned within
travelling distance of the Kruger National Park and other attractions found along the
Mpumalanga escarpment.

Location is important because it affects the natural resources found in an area, the
travelling distance for visitors and the condition of the routes used to reach the
