D300 Task 1 Part 1: Human Subjects Research Training A. Complete the Human Subjects Research training from Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) found in the Web Links section and submit your completion certificate. Part 2: Learner Analysis To prepare to write your capstone report, empathize with the type of learner for whom you will design a fully functioning e-learning module. B. Conduct a learner analysis on a type of learner by doing the following: 1. Explain how you gathered information about a group of learners to create your empathy map, including each of the following: • identification of a group of learners (e.g., age, setting, location) Age: 6-8 Years old Setting: Maple City Elementary (psuedonym) Location: Maple City, Florida • a description of how you gathered information about the group of learners (e.g., accessed published sources or demographics, relied upon prior knowledge, used informal personal communication, observed learners’ affective or social needs) I gathered information about the group of learners in a variety of different ways. The first way was through observation of learners’ behaviors. I noticed that students do not like having to complete worksheets, but enjoy working on their Chromebooks and having interactive lessons. The students are very well-behaved in a classroom setting. I also spoke with other second-grade teachers to get their insight into students' learning and behaviors. They notice that students like hands-on, interactive, and online learning. They enjoy using technology in the classroom, which helps make learning fun. Another insight I gained is that students need visual representation. They tend to retain information better when they are able to see it. If the material at hand is too complex, the students tend to become disinterested. I also used some data from their IReady testing. Most students scored below grade level in math.
