Introduction

Sterilization is the process of removing or killing the microorganisms with the application

of antibiotics, antifungal and antiviral chemicals,t and physical agents (Shreffler et al., 2015). It's

a disinfectant agent that includes chemical substances to eliminate the probable infection

elements within the women's body. These objectionable aims to control the microbial population

to reduce the count and complete elimination unwanted substances in the women's body

(Shreffler et al., 2015). Despite the program being an important surgical procedure, it has been

misused over the past decades with the claim of controlling birth (Theobald, 2019). Several laws

in Canada against the procedure acts as the primary protectors of women from unnecessary

sterilization procedures. Various studies have been put forward to champion women's

fundamental human rights (Robinson et al., 2017). Though with various social, economic, and

political implications to the country, reproduction is a basic and open decision that women have

to make in reproductive sequence. They are citizens whose choices are taken away from them

and their personal intimate and personal choices on reproduction determined.


According to Lampard, forced sterilization is a clear violation of Canadian women's

human rights ought to be upheld by the medical and health department (Shreffler et al., 2015).

Forced sterilization constitutes ill-treatment and cruelty, which also contradicts the Geneva

Convention against Torture and other Cruel, inhuman, and degrading Medical Treatment and
