French Grammar- Le Futur Proche AND Le Futur Simple
● Futur proche = I am going to…
● Simple future (le futur simple) = I will…
Futur Proche
● Aller + infinitive = near future
○ This can be translated as 'going to do…'
○ This is a compound tense.
■ 'Aller' is used as an auxiliary verb
● The futur proche has a degree more certainty than the futur simple.
However, neither are used for the hypothetical. The difference is very
slight.
● 'Aller' must agree with the subject

Je vais partir à huit heures.
I am going to leave at 8 o'clock.
Elle va cuire du riz.
She is going to cook some rice.

'Faire de la course à pied' means 'to do track racing / to do the sport
of running'
'Courir' means 'to run', referring to the action of running.
Le champagne va perdre son pétillant.
The champagne is going to go flat (literally: lose its effervescence)
Elle va finir son travail tôt.
She's going to finish work early.
Nous allons voyager en Europe.
We're going to travel in Europe.
Tu vas déjeuner avec ta sœur.
You are going to have lunch with your sister.
They will grow up.
Ils vont grandir.
Vous avez commencer à jouer du piano.
You are going to start playing the piano.
