Samenvatting literatuur - Concepts in HMS – Intensity
Behorende bij hoorcolleges 1 – 3
Hoorcollege 1

4 principles of training :
- Frequency = how often
- Duration = how long
- Volume = frequency + duration

- F  Frequency = how often
- I  Intensity

2. Exercise intensity
refers to how much
energy is expended
when exercising.
Perceived
3. intensity varies with
everyone. It has been
found that intensity
has an effect on what
fuel
4. the body uses and
what kind of

, adaptations the body
makes after exercise.
Intensity is the
5. amount of physical
power (expressed as a
percentage of the
maximal oxygen
consumption)
6. that the body uses
when performing an
activity. For example,
exercise intensity
defines how
7. hard the body has to
work to walk a mile in
-
20 minutes.
T  Time = how many hours? / how much?

, Intensity :
= the amount of energy expended per minute to perform a certain task
- intensity varies with everyone.
- Intensity infleunces what fuel the body uses and what kind of adaptations the body makes after
exercise.
- For example: how hard the body works (expressed as a % of maximal oxygen uptake) to walk a mile in
20 minutes

External load = refers to the objective training stimulus an athlete performs, such as the amount of work done or
exercise intensity
Internal load = physiological and perceptual response of the body to that stimulus

Verschillende manieren van meten van exercise Intensity / Load
Parameters die gerelateerd zijn aan :
- Performance output (= van buitenaf)
Bijvoorbeeld: speed during swimming, running etc. leg press weights, cycling power output
activiteit
- Using either maximal or submaximal anchor measurements
- Combination

- HRR = HRmax - HRrest
