I could classify the employees as qualitative or quantitative data. Qualitative data is data that can be observed but not measured. In example, colors, place of birth, and appearance. In this case the gender of the employees can be used. Quantitative data is data which can be measured. In example, length, height, area, volume, weight, speed, time, temperature, humidity, sound levels, cost, and members. In this example the ages, percentages, and salaries of the employees can be used. Similarly, the employees can be grouped by level of measurement. Nominal data can be used to determine the names and departments of the employees. Also, ordinal data can be used to determine the ranking of the 1000 employees. The employees can be listed in a rank from 1 to 1000. One benefits of using this data for the employees is to justify discipline for the poorly performing sales employees. Another benefit is to gather the data over long periods of time such as a month, quarter or year.
