Los connectors son palabras que sirven para unir y organizar ideas.
Son muy importantes en B1, especialmente en:
• Writing
• Speaking
En lugar de escribir:
I like travelling. It is interesting. I meet new people.
Podemos mejorar la frase:
I like travelling because it is interesting and I can meet new people.
1. AND
AND = Y
Sirve para añadir información.
I like reading and listening to music. Me gusta leer y escuchar música.
The hotel was comfortable and cheap. El hotel era cómodo y barato.
TRUCO
AND → AÑADIR
2. BUT
BUT = PERO
Sirve para expresar contraste.
I like travelling, but I don't like flying. Me gusta viajar, pero no me gusta volar.
The hotel was nice, but it was expensive. El hotel era bonito, pero era caro.

BUT → IDEA CONTRARIA
,3. BECAUSE
BECAUSE = PORQUE
Sirve para dar una razón.
I study English because I need it for my job.
Estudio inglés porque lo necesito para mi trabajo.
I stayed at home because I was tired.
Me quedé en casa porque estaba cansada.
PREGUNTA
WHY? → ¿Por qué?
BECAUSE... → Porque...
Why are you learning English?
Because I want to travel.
4. SO
SO = ASÍ QUE / POR ESO
Sirve para expresar una consecuencia.
I was tired, so I went to bed early. Estaba cansada, así que me acosté temprano.
It was raining, so we stayed at home. Estaba lloviendo, así que nos quedamos en casa.
DIFERENCIA
BECAUSE → RAZÓN
I stayed home because it was raining.
SO → CONSECUENCIA
It was raining, so I stayed home.
, 5. ALTHOUGH
ALTHOUGH = AUNQUE
Sirve para contrastar dos ideas.
Although it was raining, we went for a walk. Aunque estaba lloviendo, fuimos a pasear.
Although the hotel was expensive, it was very good. Aunque el hotel era caro, era muy
bueno.
También podemos decir: We went for a walk although it was raining.
6. HOWEVER
HOWEVER = SIN EMBARGO
También expresa contraste.
The hotel was expensive. However, it was very comfortable. El hotel era caro. Sin embargo,
era muy cómodo.
I was tired. However, I finished my homework.Estaba cansada. Sin embargo, terminé mis
deberes.
PARA B1 → Una forma sencilla de utilizarlo correctamente es: Frase. However, frase.
7. BUT – ALTHOUGH – HOWEVER
Los tres expresan contraste, pero la estructura cambia.
• BUT
I was tired, but I went out. Estaba cansada, pero salí.
• ALTHOUGH
Although I was tired, I went out. Aunque estaba cansada, salí.
• HOWEVER
I was tired. However, I went out. Estaba cansada. Sin embargo, salí.
MUY IMPORTANTE
No utilices juntos:
Although I was tired, but I went out.
Utilizamos uno u otro:
Although I was tired, I went out.
I was tired, but I went out.
