UNIDAD 10 – CONDITIONALS
ZERO – FIRST – SECOND CONDITIONAL
Los conditionals sirven para hablar de una condición y de su resultado.
Normalmente aparece la palabra:
IF = SI
Ejemplo:
If it rains, I stay at home.
Si llueve, me quedo en casa.
Tenemos dos partes:
If it rains → condición
I stay at home → resultado
1. ZERO CONDITIONAL
Se utiliza para cosas que son siempre ciertas, hechos generales, normas o consecuencias
habituales.
ESTRUCTURA
IF + PRESENT SIMPLE → PRESENT SIMPLE
Ejemplo:
If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.
Si calientas agua a 100 °C, hierve.
If I don't sleep well, I feel tired.
Si no duermo bien, me siento cansada.
If people eat too much, they put on weight.
Si las personas comen demasiado, engordan.
TRUCO
ZERO CONDITIONAL = SIEMPRE OCURRE
, 2. FIRST CONDITIONAL
Es el más importante.
Se utiliza para situaciones posibles o reales en el futuro.
ESTRUCTURA
IF + PRESENT SIMPLE → WILL + VERBO
Ejemplo:
If it rains, I will stay at home. Si llueve, me quedaré en casa.
If I study, I will pass the exam. Si estudio, aprobaré el examen.
If we leave now, we will arrive on time. Si salimos ahora, llegaremos a tiempo.
3. MUCHO CUIDADO CON IF
Después de IF normalmente NO ponemos WILL en esta estructura.
If it will rain, I will stay home. If it rains, I will stay home.
TRUCO
DESPUÉS DE IF → PRESENT
EN EL RESULTADO → WILL
4. EL ORDEN PUEDE CAMBIAR
Podemos decir:
If it rains, I will stay at home.
O:
I will stay at home if it rains.
Las dos son correctas.
Cuando la frase empieza por IF, normalmente ponemos una coma:
If I study, I will pass.
Si IF aparece en medio:
I will pass if I study.
Normalmente no necesitamos coma.
