UNIDAD 2. PRESENT SIMPLE Y PRESENT CONTINUOUS
La diferencia principal es:
PRESENT SIMPLE → rutinas, hábitos y situaciones habituales.
PRESENT CONTINUOUS → acciones que están ocurriendo ahora o situaciones
temporales.
Ejemplo:
I work in a hospital.
Trabajo en un hospital. → Es mi situación habitual.
I am working now.
Estoy trabajando ahora. → Está ocurriendo en este momento.
1. PRESENT SIMPLE
Utilizamos el Present Simple principalmente para hablar de:
A) Rutinas y hábitos
I get up at seven every day.
Me levanto a las siete todos los días.
She goes to the gym twice a week.
Ella va al gimnasio dos veces por semana.
B) Cosas que hacemos habitualmente
I usually have coffee for breakfast.
Normalmente tomo café para desayunar.
We visit our grandparents on Sundays.
Visitamos a nuestros abuelos los domingos.
C) Hechos o verdades generales
Water boils at 100°C.
El agua hierve a 100 °C.
The sun rises in the east.
El sol sale por el este.
D) Gustos y opiniones
I like music.
Me gusta la música.
She loves animals.
A ella le encantan los animales.
,2. PRESENT SIMPLE EN AFIRMATIVA
La estructura general es:
SUJETO + VERBO + COMPLEMENTO
Ejemplos:
I work in an office.
You live in Spain.
We study English.
They play tennis.
Pero tenemos una regla MUY IMPORTANTE:
HE / SHE / IT → añadimos normalmente -S al verbo
I work.
He works.
I live.
She lives.
I play.
He plays.
Por tanto:
Sujeto WORK
I work
You work
He works
She works
It works
We work
You work
They work
TRUCO
Solo tenemos que preocuparnos especialmente de:
HE – SHE – IT
porque en Present Simple afirmativo el verbo cambia.
, 3. REGLAS DE LA TERCERA PERSONA
Normalmente añadimos: -S
work → works
live → lives
eat → eats
read → reads
Pero existen algunas reglas especiales.
• Verbos terminados en -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -o
Normalmente añadimos: -ES
watch → watches
wash → washes
go → goes
do → does
fix → fixes
• Verbos terminados en consonante + Y
Quitamos la Y y añadimos: -IES
study → studies
try → tries
carry → carries
Pero:
play → plays
enjoy → enjoys
¿Por qué? Porque antes de la Y hay una vocal.
• Verbo HAVE
Es irregular:
have → has
She has two children.
