An independent travel agent is accompany that caters for the needs for customers in
small residential areas. They are often owned by partnerships and families.
The main example of an independent travel agent is PR World travel which is based
in Radcliffe. PR World travel first opened in 1991. They then opened in 2005 as a
partnership organisation. This travel agent is not owned by a tour operator and they
provide holidays from all tour operators. They have access to 130 airlines, over
60,000 accommodation and they can tailor a holiday to fit customer’s needs. They
are part of ABTA and so leave customers protected.
PR World travel sell a wide array of flights and holidays around the world because
they are independent, they sell holidays from all other tour operators and therefore
have a wide variety of different holiday types from round the world holidays to short
breaks. They also sell holidays from tour operators that are ATOL protected. They
sell traditional package holidays, tailor made holidays, they also sell flights including
scheduled and charter and they also provide accommodation
Their roles and responsibilities are to adapt their style to deal with different
customers. They need to be knowledgeable in all the holidays that they sell to show
how professional they are. They need to be able to upkeep the responsibility of
handling important personal documents. They have links to airlines and
accommodation providers. Such as Jet 2 and TUI.
