Abstract
This essay investigates the complex relationship between music and memory, with the
goal of determining if music improves memory recall. Using the Rey Auditory Verbal
Learning Test, a controlled experiment with 200 undergraduate psychology volunteers
was undertaken to evaluate the impact of music on memory. The experimental group
that was exposed to music during the exercise remembered considerably more words
than the control group. The conversation dives into the complexities of the music-
memory interaction, taking into account individual variances as well as contextual
factors. According to the findings, music, with its rhythmic and melodic components,
has the ability to improve both conscious and implicit memory processes. The essay
also examines the broader implications of music in therapeutic settings, particularly
for people with cognitive impairments. The findings add to the understanding of the
intricate links between music, memory, and cognitive performance, highlighting the
need for additional research to explore the complexities of this interesting interplay.
