When the land is cleared of trees, the roots of the trees no longer hold the soil together so it is more vulnerable to soil erosion . how does desertification cause the ecomomy and debt to suffer Desertification mostly affects rural households who are forced to depend on natural resources for their livelihoods. More so, drought and desertification lead to the migration of people to urban or other areas to engage in economic activities such as farming, grazing and fishing. how does desertification cause starvation and malution
