1. Again the veld revives, connotations of being "alive"
2. Imbued with lyric rains,
3. And sap re-sweetening dry stalks regular occurance. Effect of participle?
4. Perfumes the quickening plains; sensory details. sense of movement (alive)
5. Small roots explode in strings of stars, Alliteration
6. Each bulb gives up its dream, Personification
7. Honey drips from orchid throats,
8. Jewels each raceme;
9. The desert sighs at dawn – Personification
10. As in another hemisphere
11. The temple lotus breaks her buds.
12. On the attentive air – Assonance
13. A frou-frou of new flowers, mimics the bird?/ decorative
14. Puff of unruffling petals,
15. While rods of sunlight strike pure streams
16. From rocks beveined with metals; Plants covering rocks/rocks are filled with precious metals
17. Far in the gaunt karroo Juxtaposition change of mood/tone?
18. That winter earth denudes,
19. Ironstone caves give back the burr Onomatopoeia sound device
20. Of lambs in multitudes;
21. Grass waves again where drought
22. Bleached every upland kraal,
23. A peach-tree shoots along the wind
24. Pink volleys through a broken wall, Methaphor
25. And willows growing round the dam
26. May now be seen
27. With all their traceries of twigs Imagery and Alliteration
28. Just hesitating to be green,
29. Soon to be hung with colonies Synecdoche
30. All swaying with the leaves
31. Of pendent wicker love-nests Imagery
32. The pretty loxia weaves
