Module 3.1: Reviewing documents
CAT
- Introduction
Necessary for 1 to revise a doc a few times before 1 is completely satis ed.
Tracking changes
Docs are frequently checked & reviewed by someone other than the original author. Each
person reviewing the doc would like to leave a trail or ‘record’ of their changes. The author
of the doc can go through the doc & decide whether or not they agree/disagree.
Working with changes indicated in Track Changes
Track changes allows one to review the proposed changes & either accept or reject them.
You can do this by working with the options in the Changes group on the Review tab. Each
tracked change must be accepted or rejected, otherwise it remains in the doc. If you agree
with all the changes, you can accept them all in 1 go by using the Accept commands in the
changes group on the Review tab.
Manipulating tracked changes
- You can choose whether (& how) you want to display the tracked changes. Normally 1
wishes to see all the proposed changes - then choose All Markup.
- Choose where the changes are indicated - this could be inline, or in balloons
- The manner in which the changes are indicated can be speci ed in the Advanced Track
Changes Options dialog box.
Turning on Track Changes
In order to ‘trail’ all changes made, Track Changes must be turned on as follows:
- Review tab, Tracking group, Track Changes
The Track Changes Icon will be activated. To switch o track changes just click on it again.
