Task One
This Profiler is a tool to help you stand back and reflect on where you are now and what you want from the future.
Transferable skills are acquired through work, work experience, life experience, study and/or training. You will make use of these in
whatever jobs you take up and in your social life too. To help you to reflect on your current skillset please rate yourself, by putting a
in the scale of 1 (not confident) – 5 (very confident) for each of the skills listed in this skills profiler. We will complete this task
again in week 6 to help you reflect on your skill development during this first semester of study.
Adaptability
Adaptability means the ability to be flexible when things change. An adaptable person is one who is open to new ideas and
concepts, to working independently or as part of a team and to carrying out multiple tasks or projects. Someone is regarded as
adaptable if they are able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.

Information literacy refers to a cluster of skills encompassing information research and use. It is defined as knowing when there is
a need for information coupled with the ability to identify, locate, evaluate and effectively use that information in relation to the issue
or problem at hand (http://www.infolit.org/). Being able to find and use appropriate information is a skill required for decision making
whether in academic work, career management or the home. Information literacy has become increasingly important in today's
working environment, which places significant economic value on information and knowledge. Organisations need staff with the
ability to process information in order to understand the market and the social and political conditions in which they are functioning.
Today's graduates need a basic level of ICT understanding to function in almost any position.
