HUMAN REGULATION AND REPRODUCTION SPEC (A4)
, Task Produce an information leaflet that clearly explains how the primary and secondary
sex organs produce sperm and ova. This should include diagrams showing the process
of meiosis.
You should also include an explanation of the structure and function of the male and
female reproductive systems. You should provide a pictorial and descriptive account
of ovulation and identify the main hormones in male and female fertility and describe
their functions.
Next you should report on pre-fertility tests (on males and females). Please give an
account of the scientific principles behind the tests. For this you must consider the
positive and negative effects of hormone treatment. You should use annotated
diagrams to aid your descriptions.
Fertility blood tests are usually the first port of call when couples are having difficulty
conceiving. Evaluate the following blood hormone levels in females and the semen
analysis in males to provide a possible cause of fertility issues. Interpret the data
provided and relate it to the physiology of reproduction in relation to fertility and the
menstrual cycle.
