Introduction, the design brief:
I’ve been employed by a web development company to design a website for a client. This
company goes by the name ‘Hot beans web’ and they are adding a new area to their website,
with the sole purpose of attracting prospective employees. My task is to come up with a website
that fits this purpose as well as meeting the requirements of the company.
2
,Client requirements:
● The company is looking to develop a website to promote themselves to and attract
prospective employees.
● The website should consist of 7-8 pages.
● In these 7 to 8 pages the following pages MUST be included on the website:
A company profile.
Employee profiles.
Job specifications and qualifications.
An online application form.
A page with links to web development courses.
● In this assignment, I aim to get a distinction.
Target audience:
As specified in the design brief, the client’s target audience are website developers.
Specifically, those who have completed training or have qualifications in the field and are now
looking for a job. According to Scrimba, an organisation specialised in conducting research the
latest studies have concluded that the average age of professional website developers is around
25-34 years of age.
According to another website, the average professional website developer is male. Figures
show that the male to female ratio in the web development industry is as follows:
21.8% female
78.2 male
In summary, the target audience of this website will be individuals with website development
as a career. These will typically be males who are 25 to 34 years of age. This will have an
impact on the final look of the website, as the photos will include mostly men.
In this next section, I will proceed to design the website.

The sitemap:

, Based on the client requirements, I have come up with the following sitemap. A sitemap is
essentially a layout for what the website is going to contain
I have started with the homepage. This will act as the overview for the potential employee.
This website will showcase what the company has been up to, as well as projects. This website
could also show what the company is looking for, and the kind of activity they get up to. This
will effectively sell the company to the prospective employee which lines up with what the
client required from this website.
Secondly, we have the company profile, or the ‘about us’ page. This gives the user a more in-
depth introduction to the company, letting them in on more important subjects such as
experiences, achievements and work culture. This serves the same purpose as the homepage
but goes into more detail.
The third page on the sitemap is the employee profile. This is due to the fact that a potential
addition to the team may want to know who they’re working with. This will determine whether
they are the right fit. If they grow a liking to the different personalities on the team, and they
are satisfied with the training or performance of each employee, this will increase their
likelihood of working with them. This has been proven by ‘The Search Engine Journal’ as 86%
of job seekers seek reviews or evidence of employees enjoying their job, before sending in
applications. This addition will ensure that the user of the website takes a liking to the team,
and considers joining the organisation, which again meets client’s requirements.
The fourth page will be the job specification page. Should the previous endeavours in selling
the company to the user work, the job specification will be present. This page will include a
list of jobs needed at Hot Beans Web to keep the business going. This page will also include a
list of qualifications needed to be considered for the job. This page acts as a filter, as applicants
who have the appropriate qualifications and experience will remain on the website. This will
also consequently trigger those who don’t qualify to leave the website at this stage. This meets
the requirements of the client because those who qualify to join the team will remain on the
website and potentially apply for vacancies. It is also a lot more time effective as it significantly
