Record accurately observations of different types of tissues from a light microscope and describe the
four different tissue types
Epithelial tissue lines the outer surface of organs (known as the basal surface) and the inner surface
of cavities (known as the apical surface). An example of each would be the lining of the heart and the
outer layer of the skin. Epithelial tissue cells have three shapes; squamous, columnar and cuboidal.
The main functions of epithelial tissue are secretion, protection of the tissues underneath and
absorption.
