BFP2: Task 2 Research Purpose and Research Questions
BFP2: Task 2 Research Purpose and Research Questions For my research analysis, I chose the article, Conspicuous Strategies in Teaching Expressive Writing: A Quantitative Study Comparing Two Approaches to Process Writing by authors Jennifer Fontenot, Karen J. Carney, and Kay Henson. Alignment of Research Purpose and Questions The purpose of this research study is to compare the results of student growth in expressive writing skills using two instructional approaches to writing. (Fontenot, Carney, & Hanson, 2015) The two approaches to be studies are the blueprint writing program (BW), authored by the researchers of the study, and the second approach to be studied is the process-writing program (PW) that is traditionally used to teach elementary aged students across the United States. In order to effectively compare the two writing approaches the researchers collected quantitative data to answer two specific research questions: 1. Does the BW intervention provide significantly better results than the PW intervention for both general education students and special-needs students? 2. Do special-needs students show significantly more improvement than general education students for both interventions and do special-needs students trained with BW show significantly more improvement than special-needs students trained with PW (Fontenot, Carney, & Hanson, 2015)?
