Title: Introduce service user inclusion and co-production and briefly explain how
they relate to key legislative frameworks and social justice principles.
Word count: 500 Words
Learning outcomes:
1. To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of service user inclusion
and co-production to include how inclusion and co-production relate to key
legislative frameworks and social justice principles
Important Points
- This is a formative assessment therefore the marks will not count towards
your end of year grade. Therefore, use this as an opportunity to start to
explore your understanding of the learning outcome topics and practise
writing about them.

complete your summative assignment.
- Ensure you look at the detail within the learning outcomes, remember the
key words and maintain a focus on the topic.
Next steps
Before starting writing:
- Ensure you understand the key terms inclusion and co-production.
- Identify the sources that can support your explanation of these key terms
- Note down a definition of social justice and read through the principles
within the BASW Code of Ethics that relate to Social Justice.
- Review a piece of social work legislation and identify areas that relate to
inclusion and co-production.
You should now be ready to write out a structure and start writing your essay.
Remember you only have 500 words, so you need to be concise in your
communication and consider carefully which points you want to include.
- You must include sources in your essay. Use citations that link to the
reference list.
- You are not going to have enough word count to go into depth, therefore
the aim here is to demonstrate your understanding of the key concepts
and connect them to social justice and legislation.
In order to pass this assignment, you need to:
- Provide a definition of service user inclusion and co-production, explaining
these concepts to demonstrate your understanding
- Identify legislation that is relevant to Social Work, explaining how this
legislation relates to service user inclusion and co-production
- Introduces Social Justice and provides an initial explanation of how social
justice principles (you can find these in the BASW Code of Ethics) relate to
inclusion and co-production.
- Draw on sources to support your work
- Communicate with clarity.
