Unit 21 - Business Travel
Learning Outcome One - Understand the Business Travel Environment

Task 1 - Reasons for Travel Business..

A Business Travel Agent is an agent which works with companies to arrange
business trips. For example, they will help arrange things such as: Accommodation,
Transport, Car Hire, Travel Visas, and any itineraries for the trip.

There are several reasons for business travel for example, these can include:

Incentive Travel
Incentive Travel is a business strategy where companies reward employees or
clients with travel experiences for achieving specific goals or performance targets.
For example, a sales team hitting their quarterly target might earn a trip to Cancun,
or a successful client relationship could lead to an all-expenses paid weekend in
Paris. This not only boosts morale but also strengthens company loyalty and
motivation.

Exhibitions & Trade Fairs
Exhibitions and trade fairs are events where businesses showcase their products
and services to attract potential customers, partners, and industry professionals.
These events will often feature stalls and presentations. Businesses send
representatives to these events to establish connections with potential clients and
partners, which can lead to profitable deals. For example, a fashion brand attending
the London Fashion Week can present their latest collection to buyers and
influencers. Additionally, these events provide insights into industry developments
and competitors’ offerings, helping companies stay competitive.

A major example of a popular Exhibition companies will often attend is The World
Travel Market. The World Travel Market, held in London, is the world's most biggest
and influential travel and Tourism event globally. It brings together international
leisure companies allowing them to showcase their services to the international
press.

“In 2023, WTM welcomed over 40,000 professionals from 184
countries. WTM is the easiest, most resourceful place in travel to get
networked, saving time, money, and effort on the way.” Reference taken

Conferences & Meetings

, Lana Molinski Student Number: 23000311

Meetings and Conferences are organised gatherings where individuals or groups
come together to discuss topics of interest, share knowledge, and make decisions.
For instance, companies will often send representatives to travel for meetings and
conferences in order to build new relationships , gain insights, and also promote their
brand. By attending these events, business representatives can meet potential
clients, learn about new trends, and share their products and services. For example,
at an industry trade show, a company might showcase its latest technology, which
can lead to new partnerships and sales.

Corporate Events
Corporate Travel refers to trips taken by employees for work-related purposes, such
as attending meetings, conferences, or client visits. It’s important because it helps
businesses strengthen relationships, close deals, and explore new markets. For
example, a sales team might travel to London for a meeting with a potential client,
while a manager could attend an industry convention in Amsterdam to network and
learn about new trends. These trips not only promote business growth but also
provide opportunities for professional development.

There are different types of travel agencies which will work with companies to
arrange business travel for example these include :

Independent
An Independent travel agency is a company owned by one branch that provides
specialised travel services for business travellers , often focusing on personalised
and tailored experiences. These agencies will work closely with other businesses to
manage their travel needs, ensuring that employees can attend meetings,
conferences, and events efficiently. Unlike large corporate travel firms, independent
agencies offer more travel itineraries that consider budget, preferences, and
convenience. For example, N.B Travel is a small independent family run business
which was founded in 2012 serving Rotheram and surrounding areas. They offer a
variety of services, including booking flights, hotels, and transportation, while also
specialising in creating customised itineraries that meet specific business needs.
Companies may choose N.B Travel because of their personal service, quick
response times, and expertise in arranging travel, ensuring trips are smooth and
hassle free. Additionally, N.B Travel often has insights into the best deals and
options, which can help businesses save money. Furthermore, other examples of
independent travel agencies may include: Hays Travel, The Travel Business and
Horridge Business Travel.

N.b Business Travel Agency has a mission to meet all their customers' needs to a
high standard.
“We are dedicated to giving all our customers a personal, punctual, reliable
service.” - N.B Travel reference from https://www.nbtravel.co.uk/
