Introduction:

Recently, I have started working as an IT Technician in the technical
department of a small company which is called LUX CCTV. LUX CCTV have
a speciality with providing and fitting security systems and burglar alarms.
The director of the company which I am currently working at has an
interest in investigating if the company could implement and make use of
IoT technologies with the various products and services we provide as a
company. My manage has asked me to develop a prototype system which
has this technology implemented. However, there is a problem that the
company want to solve by using these IoT technologies. The problem is
that the current alarm systems that the company provide only ring a bell
when an intruder is detected. Instead, the company want the homeowner
to also be notified themselves when an intruder is detected by the alarm
system.

Problem definition statement

Target/Intended audience:

The product that is going to be created which is the new alarm system
that will notify the owner immediately of an intruder is going to be aimed
and targeted at a specific audience. The target audience in this case will
be business owners and homeowners, who are not always at home and
are travelling to different locations, so they aren’t able to stay home and
ensure the safety of their property. The reason that these are the target
audience is if there is an intruder detected, the alarm system will notify
the business/homeowners immediately which will then allow the
homeowners to quickly notify the local authorities (Police) who can then
immediately attend the property. The benefit of this alarm system is that
the homeowner will be notified immediately which means that the quicker
they know about the intruder the quicker the police can attend the
property and constrain the intruder. To a certain extent, this could prevent
items from being stolen from the property and decrease the damage
which may be done to the property due to the swift response of the local
authorities. Since the business owners and some homeowners will work
longer shifts, they will more than likely be interested in this product as
